Women's Intro to Furniture Making

Ever wanted to have a piece of furniture that you made yourself? Need to fit something into an awkward spot and store bought stuff just won't work? Wanted to know how to use some of the bigger power tools,  but felt intimidated? Then this course is for you.

Over four two hour sessions and four weeks, Renae and Penny will teach you the fundamentals of these skills and introduce you to Perth Artifactory, a space where you can use these skills in the future.

During this course you will be guided through the process of designing and building a book shelf, and gain skills:

• Using tools safely and minimising risk
• How to design and plan furniture
• Selecting and purchacing suitable timber
• Developing a cut list
• Preparing and cutting timber
• Assembly with cordless drills, drivers, and screws
• Understanding finishing and sealing

Best of all, you can take the bed side table at the end, apply a finish, and use it!

Tools, equipment, and materials provided, plus workshop admission for the course and for the weekly Women's Woodworking event while the course is running.

Approved hearing and eye protection is required, which may be purchaced at cost price for the workshop separately. Please wear fully enclosed shoes and appropriate clothing without any loose or dangling items.
